Bar-tailed Godwit

Carved in wood. Painted.
Made by Brian Zobbe, shipwright, Frederikshavn, c. 1955.
The construction is based on a body-silhouette, carved out of a 11/4" pine (?) board. The curved side-pieces and the delicately carved head were then mounted on it. The bill has been carved separately and added to the head with a little wooden dowel. Under the belly a wire stand is fastened in a drilled hole.
Part of donation from Brian Zobbe, shipwright, Frederikshavn. Acquired by the Danish Museum of Hunting and Forestry in 1959.
